Using dramatic comic book retellings and illustrated profiles of key figures, the Eisner award winning The Black Panther Party captures the major events, people, and actions of the party, as well as their cultural and political influence and enduring legacy.

The Eisner Awards are prizes given for creative achievement in American comic books, sometimes referred to as the comics industry’s equivalent of the Academy Awards. They are named in honor of the pioneering writer and artist Will Eisner.

Marcus Kwame Anderson is an illustrator, cartoonist, and fine artist who was born in Kingston, Jamaica and moved to upstate New York at an early age. He has long been immersed in the arts with a particular passion for sequential storytelling. Marcus created the independent coming of age comic Snow Daze with Leonardo Faierman, illustrated the all-ages detective story Cash & Carrie, and most recently collaborated with David F. Walker on The Black Panther Party: A Graphic Novel History.
