July 4th Oration – Planning Meeting
April 4, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Help bring the July 4th Oration to life by participating in the planning meetings. This annual program is a signature event of Underground Railroad History Project. Using Frederick Douglass’s 1852 speech, What to the Slave is Your Fourth of July, as the framework for this event, the concepts and application of liberty, citizenship, civic engagement and responsibility are examined from the historical perspective in light of contemporary injustices that continue to plague us as a society and as a world.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the April meeting will be held electronically via Free Conference Call. If you are a new committee participant please contact Mary Liz Stewart at 518-432-4432 or at https://undergroundrailroadhistory.org/contact/ before April 4.
