Indigenous Education & Tribal Sovereignty Panel – in collaboration with Excelsior University
In celebration of National Native American Heritage Month, Excelsior University’s Center for Social Justice, together with the Race & Ethnicity Rope Team and Religion & Spirituality Rope Team, is proud to partner with Fielding Graduate University and colleagues connected to the Navajo Nation for a timely and important virtual dialogue exploring the intersection of Indigenous education, tribal sovereignty, and higher education.
This special two-hour moderated panel, “Indigenous Education and Tribal Sovereignty,” invites participants to engage with a conversation that moves beyond viewing Indigenous education as simply a diversity initiative. Instead, the discussion centers Indigenous doctoral education as an expression of tribal sovereignty, examining how universities can build meaningful relationships with Tribal Nations that honor self-determination, treaty responsibilities, and government-to-government relationships.
