DECEMBER DASH 2023 – join your donation with others as we dash faster and higher than last year
December 1, 2023 - December 31, 2023
Together let’s dash faster and higher than we did in 2022! Join your contribution with the contribution of others in support of a more equitable and just society made possible through the work of UREC – Donate today and throughout this Giving Season to UREC as we link yesterday with today, working together to build a better tomorrow.
Your contribution will support the transforming work of UREC as we prepare our teens to be leaders for tomorrow, as we educate to bring about equity and justice in our world, as we preserve and celebrate the voices and spaces of those written out of the American Narrative, and as we engage the past with our present and look to the future with justice as our standard.
Together, in 2022, $45,000 was donated across month of December. Can we reach $50,000 this year? Yes, together we can!
Donations can be postal mailed to Underground Railroad Education Center, 194 Livingston Avenue, Albany, NY 12210 or made online via credit card or PayPal on the UREC donate page at https://undergroundrailroadhistory.org/donate/

About Young Abolitionist Leadership Institute – “My confidence in myself and being around others has increased, I am more comfortable speaking my mind, I am less tense around others. I like learning what is not taught in school, I likes the field trips which have increased my awareness of the world around me and introduced me to places I did not know existed right in my community. I would like to see YALI be statewide.” (Mahjae)
About The Myers Residence – “This is an awe-inspiring place, this is an inspiration to all mankind to remember. All people are equal and worth everything.” (Anon)
About FreedomCon – “I learned a lot from FreedomCon 2022 and was impressed by all the knowledge people held. I will continue to follow UREC’s events and look into local involvement for change in my community.” (PP) FreedomCon 2024 is on the horizon. Stay tuned for more information as we enter the new year.
About the gardens on The Myers Residence Campus grounds – “The gardens are beautiful! And they bring beauty back to the neighborhood that has been challenged by redlining, urban renewal and disinvestment.” (JR)
About the UREC Library – “The library as it currently resides in the 2nd floor of The Myers Residence is an incredible resource for people of all ages. Add to that the Delve in the Shelves YouTube program available on the UREC YouTube page and I can’t help but get excited. I look forward to when the library will be relocated to the up and coming Interpretive Center so that not only will we have access to such a rich and extensive collection of book resources reflecting African American history and culture, but we will also have access to a bank of computer that I know I will use to investigate my family genealogy.” (MP)
About July 4th Oration – “I can’t say enough about this rich community opportunity to take a hard look at July 4th and what it means and what it could mean. It’s wonderful to gather with like-minded people to commemorate the freedom fighters past to present, to be inspired to carry on in the work for justice, and to know that I walk in the company of many wonderful and committed people.” (AH)
