New York State, so often cast as a safe haven for freedom seekers and New York’s abolitionist, was a hotbed of pro-slavery sentiment. Pushing back against the injustices of the institution of enslavement were various Hudson Valley residents whose voices and stories will be shared at the Thomas Cole National Historic Site on Sunday, June 22 at 2pm as part of the Sunday Salon series.
