General Information about Glazes:

Underglaze: A color or decoration is applied to the ceramic vessel before it is glazed. Because the glaze covers the decoration or color, the decoration is very durable.

Overglaze: A ceramic vessel in which the printed or painted decoration is applied over the glaze. The piece is then fired again at a low temperature.

Transfer print: This is a method of decorating ceramics by using an engraved copper or steel plates. A monochrome print on paper is made and then transferred by compressing the design onto the ceramic vessel.
