DESCRIPTION:Young Abolitionist Leadership Institute 2022 (YALI 2022) is on! Twenty teens are assigned to work at The Stephen and Harriet Myers Residence for 20 hours a week for 5 weeks! We are excited about the Bicycle Your Way to Health Focus Group\, the Photography and Videography Focus Group\, and the Entrepreneurship Focus Group. Enrichment Fridays include Economic Empowerment workshops and presentations by museum\, architect\, and business professionals. It’s a great way to spend a summer. \nYALI Open House is scheduled for Thursday\, August 11 from 2pm-4pm at The Myers Residence Campus. Mark your calendars! SUMMARY:Adult Adventure in Archaeology Summer Camp
DESCRIPTION:Experience an adult adventure in archaeology! Participate in a week-long dig at The Dr. Thomas Elkins property which is part of The Stephen and Harriet Myers Residence Campus located in Albany\, New York. Managed by Underground Railroad Education Center\, The Stephen and Harriet Myers Residence is an award-winning\, National Register listed\, documented Underground Railroad site that is the voice of Black Abolitionists and Freedom Seekers. The Dr. Thomas Elkins property is owned by Underground Railroad Education Center and was home to Dr. Thomas Elkins\, who was a Vigilance Committee member and medical examiner for the 54th Massachusetts Regiment (Autobiography of William Henry Johnson). \n \nJoin with others in unearthing history through archaeology. Field trips and conversations with professional archaeologists will be included in the experience. Lunch and snacks will be provided daily. Breakfast\, dinner and accommodations will be the responsibility of participants. Accommodation arrangements for the group are being investigated. \nQuestions?
