DESCRIPTION:For Black History Month Kingston 2023\, The Library at the A.J. Williams- Myers African Roots Center\, ENJAN (End the New Jim Crow Action Network) Kingston\, and the YWCA Ulster County are going to host a screening of the documentary “The Interview” co-sponsored by RAPP (Releasing Aging People from Prisons) and the People’s Campaign for Parole Justice. You can enjoy this impactful documentary and have some good conversations and refreshments!! \n\n\n\n\n     A little bit about the film: “The Interview” asks viewers to confront their feelings about justice and mercy while revealing the heavy toll our current legal system takes on incarcerated people and their families. There will be a panel discussion to take place after the showing! SUMMARY:Stephen Myers and the Underground Railroad
DESCRIPTION:Join Mary Liz and Paul Stewart as they discuss Harriet and Stephen Myers\, Black abolitionists whose residence was a headquarters for Underground Railroad activity in the Capital Region in the mid-1850’s. The Myers serve as a lasting legacy for social justice and reform.\n\nTheir home is now a museum and community place for gathering that serves as a reckoning space with the past\, and also inspires future generations.\nThis virtual presentation is hosted by Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site and is organized by David Brooks\, Schoharie Crossing Education Director. \nThis virtual presentation will be available through Webex.
