The Heavenly Echoes was founded more than 50 years ago by Deacon James Edmonds of Sweet Pilgrim Baptist Church in Albany, NY. In the Southern-soul style, the singers and musicians bring their authentic, heartfelt music to churches and community events throughout the Capital Region.
The JV & the Cutters Blues Band plays original blues with a Memphis-meets-St. Louis style. J.V.’s songs mix in some soul, rock, and jazz sounds with lyrics about modern situations to craft a “new urban blues”. The group presents the blues at Capitol Region venues, benefits, and events, including First Night Saratoga.
Agape Blues Company will provide a mix of Chicago and Texas style blues, playing original songs and classic blues songs with modified lyrics to bring a message of joy and hope. They have also taken many well known hymns and “bluesified” them into what we call “Barrelhouse Hymns.”
Black Diamond Group Performance Ensemble, featuring spoken word artists Dee Watson and Kim Wafer will present spoken word interpretations of original works. The Black Diamond Group is a new group of actors, poets, and singers performing original material of its founder, Penny Meacham, along with other pieces from selected seasoned local talent.
